Our team

There are a lot of people that make up the nutshell way of working.

We take pride in having some of the best and brightest talent working on our projects. Here are a few of our key people, the ones you are most likely to see at any event you engage us for.

Oh and of course - they are far from ordinary.

Paul Sullivan

Paul is the founder of nutshell and the main client liaison for the team. But we think his business card says it best: 'Director of making things happen'.

Paul's early career was in sales and sales training but he has always been in and around the events and entertainment industry. A former General Manager of The Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey Club (a passion of his for over 20 years), Paul has spent the past 4 years producing the 'match night experience' for the Devils along with all their off-ice events. He still announces for the team on match nights in Cardiff Bay, running events to 2000-plus crowds over 30 times a year.

At an event you will mostly see Paul ensuring the proceedings run smoothly, and he is present from when the first flight case arrives until the last one leaves to make sure you have total support from the nutshell team. You might also see him behind the lens as he is one of the primary video and stills cameramen within the company. Paul's varied and detailed knowledge of all aspects of event production means he is able to advise clients from conceptual discussions through to site visits and event production.

Paul almost exclusively wears black so this rare shot in a white shirt is a collector's item.

Phil Thomas

Phil is our all-round video guy, and spends most of his time with a camera in his hand, or wearing the Steadicam rig. Phil graduated from the University of Glamorgan’s Live Event Technology Degree with First Class Honours, and has since been honing his skills in the event industry and on the film set.

Phil has shot for BBC, Sky, ITV and broadcasters across the globe as well as covering many prestigious events such as the London 2012 Olympics and the Le Mans 24 Hour motor race. He is a trained Steadicam Operator which allows him to produce beautifully smooth action shots previously only available on Hollywood feature films. In his Steadicam guise he has shot all sorts from short films, production features, music videos & sports coverage.

Phil is also the drummer in a band in which Paul sings and his' less than silent' style gives him the nickname 'Lead-Hands Thomas'
